Like many others this week I was confined to my bed for a few days with an awful dose of the flu. Although I found it hard to stay cooped up inside it was a great opportunity to catch up on some paperwork and keep up to date with the latest news. However, while watching the news this week I was very sorry to hear about the death of Mickey Harte's daughter Michaela and my sympathies go out to him and his family at this very difficult time.
Last weekend was a busy one for the Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel as they were at the Mid West Bridal Exhibition in the University Sports Arena in Limerick. I was delighted to see my fellow Rose of Tralee judge, Mary Kennedy, supporting local businesses this week on Nationwide. Mary was presenting the show from the exhibition and the event was a great success as it gave local businesses a chance to showcase their services. During the event at the arena the hotel were also holding a wedding showcase in their function room which allowed enquiring couples to view the room as it would look at a wedding. That proved to be very popular and will hopefully lead to more wedding bookings for the Castletroy Park.
Still battling the flu, I called into the Carlton Dublin Airport on Tuesday to pick up some files and noticed the group sales meeting was taking place. I was delighted to get the chance to meet the new faces and to hear their energetic and highly motivated ideas for the next few months. While I was busy in Dublin Airport, our property in Kinsale commenced the reconstruction work on their bar, using the quiet period of January to their advantage. We have a very interesting theme planned for Captain's Bar which I promise to keep you updated on in the near future.
This weekend is all about the Heineken Cup with Leinster, Munster and Ulster all playing matches. I'll hopefully be in the RDS watching the Leinster V Saracens match tomorrow but I'd also like to wish the other two provinces the best of luck in their games. Next week I'll be in Westport presenting the Carlton Apprentices with their awards and I'll be sure to fill you in on all the details from the night afterwards.
Hope you all have a great weekend and best of luck to Leinster tomorrow!
