It's been a busy week all round for the Carlton Group this week as there has been a lot of activity around the hotels. In Limerick, the Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel were hosting the Irish Olympic Handball Team as they took part in competitions at the UL Sports Arena. The hotel were delighted to be able to accommodate the team and it was great to see the place so full of activity with the team and their supporters taking over the hotel. The Carlton Hotel Galway City have also had a busy week as the preparations for the launch of their Ice Factor Skating Rink are in full swing. I must admit I'm not a fan of ice skating myself but it is a very popular winter activity and I'd say it'll be very busy from their launch date on the 1st of December right up until it closes in January.
Also in the news this week was the announcement that Dáithí Ó'Sé is set to marry his fiancé Rita Talty at the Carlton Hotel Tralee next Summer. They met in the hotel during the Rose of Tralee Festival when Dáithí was a judge and Rita was a Rose so for them it was the obvious choice as the place to celebrate their big day. I know the hotel are honoured to be hosting the event and are already making plans for the big day in July. I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate both Dáithí and Rita and wish them the best of luck in organising the rest of the details for their big day.
Tonight I'm heading to the Convention Centre for the Eircom Spider Awards because the Carlton Group have been shortlisted in the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality category. There is definitely strong competition in our category but hopefully we'll be lucky tonight. Although either way we were delighted to be shortlisted and I'm sure it's going to be a great night. I must also mention that we are delighted to sponsor the Carlton Best of Festival Marketing Awards which will take place tomorrow night 11th November in the Carlton Shearwater Hotel Ballinasloe. The awards celebrate the best festival visual marketing material of the season.
