The Rose of Tralee is well and truly over for another year and I'm only starting to recover from it. I had a great experience as a judge but it was a hectic time and I definitely needed a few days rest after it! But I must admit I really enjoyed the experience even if I am only just getting back to normal now.
I know my colleague Michael Kearney is normally the sports fan between us but I can't help getting caught up in the hype around the All-Ireland Senior Football Final this weekend. Mayo are taking on Dublin on Sunday and being from the West of Ireland myself I'll be routing for Mayo. I know Dublin are most probably the favourites to win but I'd really like to see Mayo do it. I was in Dublin this week and the whole county seems to have gone blue for Sunday but I've no doubt if I was to take a trip to Mayo I'd see red and green everywhere! It's not often I get so involved in GAA but I'll be cheering on Mayo on Sunday.
While I'm on the topic of GAA I must mention the International Hurling Festival taking place in Galway this week. The event is sponsored by Aer Lingus and they have invited teams from all over the world to compete in the festival and the Carlton Shearwater Hotel are delighted to be hosting some of those teams. For any of you interested in hurling you should try make it over to Galway this weekend!
Well that's me done for this week but I'll be back soon with some more news……hope you all have a great weekend!
