World Wife Carrying Championships!

Posted: 2010-07-07 14:55:10 Along with many other football fans I was disappointed that we didn’t get the chance to cheer on Ireland in the World Cup this year. And as a result I was turning my focus to other sports that Ireland were competing in. This is how I came upon the World Wife Carrying Championships in Finland.

For those of you that may not be familiar with the event, the World Wife Carrying Championships is an annual competition that takes place in Finland every year. Last year an Irish team took part in the event and wanted to return this year to defend their title of ‘Most Entertaining Couple’. When Ciara Crossan, founder of weddingdates.ie, approached us about sponsoring them to take part in the championships we were delighted to come on board.

We followed the team as they embarked on a long journey from Cork to Finland in a campervan and watched their antics along the way. They took part in the event last weekend and we are delighted that they did manage to defend their title and won ‘Most Entertaining Couple’ for the second year in a row.
