The First Challenge
It’s busy around the Carlton Group this week as all the hotels have been enthusiastically getting ready for the first Carlton Apprentice task. The first challenge began today with the gift voucher selling task in Tesco stores across Ireland. All of the candidates have been preparing for weeks and drumming up support from their family and friends.
As none of the candidates have experience in sales they may find it difficult at first but listening to what all of them have planned for the two days I’m confident they’ll do well. What started as a direct sales task for the candidates and their sales managers has turned into a competition between all the hotels with each of the candidates having the full support of their property behind them. It’s great to see such strong team spirit in the Carlton hotels with everyone from the general manager to the kitchen porters getting involved in the task and supporting their apprentice.
As I’m based in Maynooth I called into their Tesco this morning and met with Clarissa from Galway City who was eager to tell me she’d already sold vouchers. Tomorrow I hope to make an appearance at all the Tesco stores around Dublin and the surrounding area to show my support and give the candidates some encouragement. I’m not the only one eager to show my support as Barry Caesar Hunt from TV3’s Apprentice will also be making an appearance in two of our Tesco stores. Barry will be helping two lucky candidates sell some vouchers tomorrow so call down to Tesco in Nutgrove or Greystones to meet Barry and buy a Carlton voucher.
I’ll have a busy day ahead of me tomorrow but I must admit I’m looking forward to visiting the candidates to see how they’re getting on. I should have a full update on all their performances next week!
