The weather has really put everyone in good spirits and it is evident throughout the hotels, with everyone having an extra spring in their step. It’s unusual but great to see our customers dining al-fresco in the evenings! I must admit I’m guilty of having a few meals in the garden myself this week as I wanted to make the most of the good weather. It’s been a busy week around the group with the school holidays in full swing and the reports are that the kids clubs are full of activity, with a chocolate wonderland under construction in the Carlton Millrace in Wexford. Although our Dublin Airport hotel is busy with people travelling for the Easter break its great to see so many families choosing a “staycation” in Ireland instead.

The Carlton Hotel Galway City have added to their long list of associate sporting organisations through a jersey sponsorship with Mervue United in Galway, who will be playing in the Airtricity League this season. This association is a welcome addition to the Carlton Hotel Galway City’s sponsorship of the Galway Races and Connacht Rugby. I wasn’t able to make it down myself for the launch but Siobhan Burke, the hotel’s general manager, was on hand for the presentation. Also in the West last weekend, it was great to see the community of Ballinasloe out in force last Sunday as the town hosted its 2nd annual Ballinasloe 10K Charity Walk/Run. The fundraising drive was organised by local based charity “Stargazer Lily Foundation” to raise much needed funds and awareness for the Irish Cancer Society who are our Charity of the Year. I believe a few of our staff members from the Carlton Shearwater Hotel took part in the run and survived, so well done to them!

On Wednesday, on behalf of the group, we announced our sponsorship in association with the FAI and the Star Newspaper of the FAI club of the Month. This award recognises clubs' achievements and displays both on and off the field of play and will take place in the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown. Speaking of the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown, I was over for some lunch on Thursday and Clio and the team are really doing a great job, there was a great buzz around the property.
