Sports Update!

Posted: 2010-08-13 00:00:00 Like thousands of people across Ireland I’ll be watching the Hurling Semi-Final matches on Sunday to see who’ll be taking on the Cats in the All-Ireland Final. Dublin take on Clare in the Minors but the Senior semi-final with Tipperary and Waterford could be a very close match with them both having made it to the final in the past two years, they’ll be eager to try for the All-Ireland again.

Following this weekend the battle for the Senior Football Final begins with Dublin against Cork next Sunday and my adopted county Kildare against Down on Sunday 29th. I’m hoping for a Kildare and Dublin final as the rivalry between the border counties should lead to an exciting All-Ireland final.

While I’m talking about sport I must mention how the common phrase ‘every second counts’ was really put into practice yesterday at the European Championships in Budapest. Ireland’s Grainne Murphy narrowly missed out on a bronze medal in the 800 metres freestyle, by 0.02 of a second to be precise! Definitely a close call!

Next week is a busy one as the Rose of Tralee tour kicks off on Monday at the Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport. I’ll keep you all updated on what’s happening with regular posts but until then enjoy your weekend!
