Soccer Stars in Limerick

Posted: 2012-02-17 17:00:00 Last weekend didn’t quite go as planned as the Ireland and France rugby game was postponed due to the weather conditions in Paris. Along with the rest of the country I’ll now have to wait until the 4th of March to watch the game. I did get to watch the Wales and Scotland game on Sunday though and I’m glad I did. It was a great game with Wales proving how good they are by scoring three times in 13 minutes and ultimately beating Scotland 27-13. They are now top of the RBS 6 Nations Championship and will be looking to hold onto that position when they take on England on the 25th of February.

In other sporting news the staff at the Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel were delighted to meet former Manchester City and Arsenal star Patrick Vieira on Sunday night. The World Cup and Euro 2000 winner stayed at the Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel alongside former Manchester City player Paul Lake and the iconic FA Cup trophy. They were among a party of coaching staff from the Premier League club to stay at the Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel, while visiting schools in Limerick. Paul Lake also attended a function on Monday evening at the Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel for the county's official Manchester City Supporters Club in Limerick all the while showing off the FA cup, which the team won last season. I didn’t make it down myself but from talking to the hotel’s general manager, Denis Deery, I know he was very excited over the visit, as he is a huge fan of Manchester City.
