Rose Tour Begins!

Posted: 2011-08-16 16:00:00 The Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport were delighted to welcome the 32 Roses on Sunday night as the Rose Tour for 2011 officially began! On their first night there was an informal reception in Clouds Restaurant where the Roses were given their official Rose of Tralee sashes. Many of the Roses had travelled a long distance so it was an early night for all as they had a busy day ahead of them on Monday.

Yesterday kicked off with a visit to Crumlin Children’s Hospital followed by a trip to Croke Park. For some of the Roses it was their first visit to the home of GAA but others had been before to watch their home counties play. Then it was back to the Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport for lunch where I had my first encounter with the Ottawa Rose! I bumped into the Roses as they were taking part in a photoshoot but unfortunately I couldn’t stop for too long although there will be plenty more opportunities to get to know them during the week. They left the hotel in the evening to travel to Newbridge Silverware where they were shown pieces of jewellery to select for the TV nights.

This morning the Roses were out at the RTE studios for their official photoshoot with Dáithí Ó’Sé followed by an afternoon of sightseeing around Dublin. Tonight the Roses will attend a gala evening in the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown which will also mark the official opening of the hotel. It promises to be a great evening and I’ll be back tomorrow with all the news from the night!
