Rose of Tralee is Back!

The Rose of Tralee Festival is a very busy time for me but definitely something I look forward to every year. This year’s Rose Tour kicked off on Sunday as the Roses arrived at the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown where they were due to stay until Wednesday morning. From what I’ve heard there was great excitement around the hotel for their arrival but I know our guest blogger Eveanna Ryan has been filling you in on all those details!

I met the Roses with my fellow judges on Monday as we all had lunch together at the Carlton Blanchardstown. This is the first year we have all met for lunch at the start of the week and it was great to get the chance to meet all the girls so early on. The Roses travelled to Newbridge Silverware on Monday evening before heading back to the Carlton Blanchardstown to get a good night’s sleep before their busy day in Dublin on Tuesday.

On Tuesday night I got to spend some more time getting to know the Roses at the Flavour of Dublin evening in the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown. It was a great evening with all 32 Roses in attendance along with the current Rose of Tralee, Tara Talbot, who I was lucky enough to have at my table for dinner. It was great to get the chance to catch up with Tara and find out all she got up to during her year as the Rose of Tralee. Following dinner there was entertainment from Des Willoughby, and later by the Men in Black who had nearly the whole room up on the dance floor. The whole night was a great success but it wasn’t too late a night for me as I have plenty more events to attend this week and need to get my rest.

Today I’m heading over to Westport to welcome the Roses to the Carlton Atlantic Coast Hotel this evening and then tomorrow it’s on down to Tralee to get to work on my judging duties. I’ll be back later in the week to fill you in on how it’s all going!
