Is Tralee the new Lisdoonvarna?

Posted: 2012-07-20 17:00:00 This week at Carlton, Rose of Tralee fever has really kicked in! Our Sales & Marketing team have just launched this year’s Rose of Tralee campaign and I can’t believe it’s that time already. I know I probably say it ever year but it doesn’t feel like the last one was a year ago, time really does seem to be flying by. Our Sales & Marketing team have spent months preparing ideas and getting the campaign together as it is such a huge event for us.This year we are challenging Lisdoonvarna as we actually believe the Rose of Tralee Festival could be the biggest match making festival in Ireland! This is our fifth year sponsoring the festival and throughout the years we have seen and heard of so many relationships that have blossomed during the festival. W ...

The Wedding of the Year - by Guest Blogger Brigeen O'Sullivan

Posted: 2012-07-13 17:30:00 Well the day has finally arrived! The sun was shining on the wonderful couple Dáithí & Rita Ó’Sé today as they were married in Dingle.  We were delighted to welcome them and their guests to the Carlton Hotel Tralee this afternoon where the party is in full swing! After all the months of planning the hotel has been transformed into a wedding wonderland. We worked with Gotcha Covered and Diane and her team did an amazing job creating an elegant uptown New York theme throughout. The hotel is dazzling with designer draping, sparking lights and the most beautiful flower arrangements.  Dáithí & Rita arrived to much cheer and many of the locals were here to greet them. I hear that a coach of fans even travelled all way fro ...

Galway are Leinster Champions!

Posted: 2012-07-10 12:00:00 What a weekend to be from Galway! The whole city was buzzing with the events around the finale of the Volvo Ocean Race and the city did us proud. People from all over the world were in the city of the tribes for the weekend to celebrate the finale and it was a great success. The festivities surrounding the Volvo Ocean Race came to an end on Sunday but the celebrations were only beginning for the GAA fans!Galway took on Kilkenny in the Leinster Senior Hurling Final on Sunday and by all accounts the odds were against them. Not only are they the All-Ireland Champions but Kilkenny have also been crowned Leinster Champions for the last seven years in a row. Regardless of the odds and past results, it all comes down to how the teams preform on the day and Galway were definitely on top ...

All About GAA!

Posted: 2012-07-06 00:00:00 The Euros are finished and the Rugby season is well and truly over so until the Olympics start at the end of the month my main focus will be on GAA. I’ve always been a massive GAA fan, which is evident in my previous blog posts, and I look forward to the championship every year.Last weekend was not a great weekend in GAA for me as I watched my adopted county Kildare lose to Meath in the Senior Football Championship. Although many people thought Kildare would be the stronger team it was just not the case on the day and Meath beat Kildare 1-17 to 1-11. Hopefully Kildare will make it in the back door but their chance at the Leinster title is now gone for this year. Immediately after the Kildare game at Croke Park, Dublin took on Wexford and had much better luck than Kildare. D ...

Weddings, Roses & Hector - by Guest Blogger Jean O'Connell

Posted: 2012-06-29 18:00:00 Well what a week. Monday & Tuesday kicked off with my colleague Sophia Weir being a guest on Midday Show with Elaine Crowley on TV3 as well as a week-long promotion on Ireland AM. In the Carlton Hotel Tralee I had the pleasure of catching up with the fabulous Rita Talty and Daithi O’Sé who are just back from New Jersey where Rita is originally from. Less than two weeks to go to the Wedding of Year in Dingle & the Carlton Hotel Tralee and talk about a relaxed couple! Which is the definitely the best way to be to ensure that they enjoy every minute of such a special day or long weekend in this particular case!! While in my home county we also had a very productive meeting with organisers of the Rose of Tralee. With 50 days to go the Rose of Tralee Festival (acc ...

Carlton on Breakfast with Hector

Posted: 2012-06-28 11:00:00 Last weekend Dublin took on Kilkenny in the Leinster Hurling Semi-Final and despite Dublin gaining an early lead they didn’t manage to keep up the momentum. Kilkenny were on top form and gained a strong lead on Dublin after two goals in the first half. The Cats eventually beat the Dubs 2-21 to 0-09 and will now go on to play my home county Galway in the Leinster Final. In Carlton news this week we have been very busy with our Mini Explorers campaign as we continue with the relaunch for the summer. This week we are running a promotion with Hector’s Breakfast Show on 2fm, giving away a family break every day on the show. Each day this week we have given away a five night family break worth €1,500 at different Carlton Hotels in Ireland. Plus the week will end with H ...

Out of the Euros!

Posted: 2012-06-21 17:00:00 Ireland played their last match in the Euros on Monday night and although they were out of the competition regardless of the result they were determined to go out fighting. The game started well for Ireland as despite Italy dominating for long periods they weren’t able to get the ball past our defense and into the net. That didn’t last as long as we hoped though as Mario Balotelli scored the opening goal for Italy. It wasn’t over yet though and Ireland continued to fight throughout the rest of the first half and into the second. But Italy scored another goal into the second half and that was it for Ireland. Despite another defeat the Irish fans were behind their team again with their renditions of ‘Fields of Athenry’ echoing in the stadium. Despite a ...
