As Chief Executive of Carlton Hotel Group, I'd like to welcome you to the Carlton Hotel Group blog. The Carlton Hotel Group was established in 2004 and since then has developed as one of the premier Hotel Groups in Ireland. In the past 7 years Carlton has grown substantially from operating one hotel to having a presence in many locations throughout Ireland.
Through this blog it is my aim to give you an insight into what's going on in all of our hotels plus my opinions on current affairs, sports news, general activities and events. I will also occassionally invite some of my colleagues to write on the blog giving you more opinions and insights into what's going on at Carlton. While we have been in the eye of a storm here in Tralee with gale force winds & torrential rain it has been perfect for some - and not just the ducks! Kerry welcomed the Red Bull Storm Chasers to the Maharees just outside Tralee last week. Ten of the world’s best windsurfers competed in winds of up to 137km per hour and 20 foot waves. It just goes to show even in rain or shine there is always something to do in Tralee! I am sure that with mid-term looming you are looking forward to having a break from routine - no more dashing around on the school run, lunch boxes or last minute searches for that elusive missing school shoe for a few days…….I am speaking from experience!! For those of you that read last week’s blog you will have noticed that it featured a guest blogger, which I hope becomes a regular feature over the next few months. I will still be writing regularly but I will also give some of the managers and staff of our hotels the chance to fill you in on what’s going on in their properties. For those of you that don’t know me, I started in the Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport back September as part of my Marketing course with NUI Galway and for someone who loves to be on the go my placement couldn’t have been a better match! For most people January tends to be a quiet month as they relax after the hectic Christmas party season but here at Carlton it’s as busy as ever. This month the hotels are really focused on weddings, which I suppose is down to the fact so many people get engaged over Christmas. Last weekend we had a stand at the Wedding Journal Show in the RDS and it was a great success. We got some great enquiries and also managed to confirm a few appointments with future brides to be so definitely a successful weekend!Last night the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown held a wedding showcase evening and they had a great turn out. I’d like to start by welcoming you all back after the Christmas break and wishing you a very Happy New Year, hopefully you’re all settling back into work ok. For us it can be hard to settle back in January after the busy Christmas period but what a great start to the year it has turned out to be. As with the previous two years, we have been searching for the next Carlton Apprentice and after weeks of competitive selling we are now down to the final two. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of this year’s Apprentices and to commend them on the hard work they have been doing selling Carlton vouchers. What a week it has been in Tralee this week! Preparations are in full swing for today’s wedding of the beautiful Sinead Delaney and Kerry footballer Daniel Bohane. We were delighted to welcome them both along with their family & friends. There are also Kerry football stars enjoying their celebrations but not a kit bag or football boot in sight! After months of meticulous planning the Riverview Suite has been transformed into a Wedding Winter Wonderland and the party is now in full swing!
