New Developments for Dublin 15 - By Guest Blogger Eveanna Ryan

Posted: 2013-11-15 16:00:00 As we almost come to the end of 2013 we are taking time to reflect on all that has happened over the last year at the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown. And one of the most exciting developments in our area was the brand new state of the art National Sports Campus that was officially opened on the 29th of May. The campus is just 5 minutes from the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown and is now home to nineteen National Governing Bodies. Outside of these 19 NGBs, National Horse Arena opened in October and is recognised as a new world-class equestrian training facility. The new arena has been established within the Walled Garden of Abbotstown House. It is the first publicly owned facility of its kind in Ireland and will give Irish equestrian athletes access to state-of-the-art facilities for 2 ...

Halloween Holidays

Posted: 2013-11-01 17:00:00 Hard to believe the October bank holiday weekend is over and done with for another year, it’ll be Christmas before we know it! I know I say it a lot but I really can’t get over how fast this year is going by – is it just me or does it feel like it’s flying? I can’t believe it has been over two months since I was down in Tralee at the festival! I think the weather has something to do with it this year because it has definitely been milder than usual this October. This of course is great news for us because our hotels have been really busy all week with families on their Halloween breaks, probably taking advantage of the last of the good weather. There were plenty of families around the Carlton Blanchardstown all week and in particular yesterday for th ...

Standing Ovations & Spooky Surprises - By Brian Hurley

Posted: 2013-10-25 17:00:00 Last weekend we had an amazing event here at the Carlton Hotel Tralee to celebrate the life of Christie Hennessy, one of Tralee’s finest singer/songwriters. On Friday night the famous musician Francie Conway kicked off proceedings by welcoming Mickey Harte on stage to pay tribute to Christie Hennessy. Following this we had many brilliant performances from the likes of Mark Leen, John Buggy and Ian Doherty. The talk of the night was an up and coming group called Chapter 2 who got a standing ovation and are certainly on their way to new heights in the music industry. Saturday night saw the final of the Christie Hennessy song contest sponsored by IMRO. Ten acts from all over Ireland performed their socks off for another full house and a panel of judges. A real treat on the nig ...

Countdown to Christmas.......already?

Posted: 2013-10-11 17:00:00 As some of you probably know in the hotel industry we are always planning ahead. So while most of you haven’t even thought about your Halloween costume yet, we’re busy getting ready for Christmas. I know many of you don’t like hearing the ‘C’ word in October but we’ve been busy planning for it since the Summer. It seems that we aren’t the only ones though because many of the hotels have already filled some of their Christmas Party Nights so if you’re in charge of your office party this year make sure to get on it now! The countdown to Christmas also brings the launch of our Apprentice competition. Each year we run a search for the Carlton Apprentice and four of our hotels put forward a candidate each. This year’s challenge is ...

Fingal Enterprise Week - By Guest Blogger Eimear Connolly

Posted: 2013-10-04 17:00:00 Well for those who have never met me before, I am the Sales and Marketing Manager here in Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport, I have just returned back to work after 22 months maternity leave (Irish twins)!! I must say it is great to be back and to see the hotel so busy. I left in January 2011 when times were very challenging for everyone in all industries and even though we were holding our own, people just seemed a bit deflated. Returning back into the corporate world and away from kiddies TV and dirty nappies has been made so much easier with the change I can definitely see in the economy! People seem so much more optimistic and are talking about the future again, things are definitely on the turn and it is great to see! So our week started with The Wedding Journal Show last weekend ...

Autumn in Westport - By Guest Blogger Anne Collins

Posted: 2013-09-27 17:00:00 I love Autumn in Westport and in particular here at the Carlton Atlantic Coast Hotel. With 14 years now under our belts, (and believe me my own belt is tighter than it used to be!!) we have made many many friends, and as I looked around our lobby this morning I remarked at the number of people relaxing, reading the newspaper, chatting to us across the reception desk, laughing, and talking amongst themselves, all of them return guests and now our very good friends. Its mornings like this, you remember why we do what we do and what makes it all worthwhile. And with that in mind we launched our first “Golden Escapes” brochure, incorporating everything from a relaxing two night break to a week of planned activities and entertainment! We are excited about the introduction ...

All Ireland Weekend

Posted: 2013-09-20 16:00:00 The Rose of Tralee is well and truly over for another year and I’m only starting to recover from it. I had a great experience as a judge but it was a hectic time and I definitely needed a few days rest after it! But I must admit I really enjoyed the experience even if I am only just getting back to normal now. I know my colleague Michael Kearney is normally the sports fan between us but I can’t help getting caught up in the hype around the All-Ireland Senior Football Final this weekend. Mayo are taking on Dublin on Sunday and being from the West of Ireland myself I’ll be routing for Mayo. I know Dublin are most probably the favourites to win but I’d really like to see Mayo do it. I was in Dublin this week and the whole county seems to have gone blue for Su ...
