Wedding Winner Chosen

Posted: 2012-04-20 17:00:00 It’s been another busy week for Carlton Head Office as the team prepare for the summer months. Our sales and marketing team have been working on new ideas to promote our hotels over the next few months in the lead up to the summer. From what I’ve been told so far it sounds like there are a lot of great things in the works so I’m looking forward to hearing more. I say it every year but it’s hard to believe we’re planning for the summer already, it’ll be Christmas before we know it!Also this week was the Fáilte Ireland Meitheal Trade Fair in the RDS which our Director of Sales and Marketing, Jean O’Connell attended, along with some of our hotels’ sales managers. The event was a great success and as with past year’s I&rsqu ...

Annual IGTOA Golf Event!

Posted: 2012-04-13 17:00:00 It was a short week for me this week with Bank Holiday Easter Monday, not for the hotel’s though as it was a very busy week across the properties with plenty of families enjoying the Easter break. This week I had a very pressing engagement, I had to attend the (IGTOA) Irish Golf Tour Operators Association’s annual outing in Kinsale, this is a very important event for us as a Hotel Group as these tour operators bring in golfing groups from all over the world to come play our magnificent courses and they are a major benefit to tourism in Ireland. This year we also had the honour of hosting their Lunch Event in the Carlton Hotel Kinsale which was a great success and most enjoyable, and a great credit to Anne-Marie and her team in the Kinsale. On a final not it was great to ...

Busy Ballinasloe!

Posted: 2012-04-06 14:00:00 The highlight of the week was the visit of President Michael D Higgins to the Carlton Shearwater Hotel in Ballinasloe on Wednesday. President Higgins was there as guest speaker at the USI congress which took place in the hotel from Monday. The congress itself was a huge success and was a major “tweeting point” come Tuesday morning. It’s great for the town of Ballinasloe to have the focus of the countries media on it for the whole week for very positive reasons, and I must commend the USI on their organisation of such a great congress and I hope we can welcome them back to a Carlton Hotel in the near future.Ballinasloe is a hive of activity this week with the Galway Rose selection night taking place in the Carlton Shearwater Hotel on Saturday and I ...

April Fool's!

Posted: 2012-03-30 16:00:00 It’s been a glorious few days this week weather wise and it was great to see the hotels buzzing with happy people due to the few nice rays of sunshine, hopefully we get more of the same in the summer. It’s a busy time of year in Carlton Head office with all the plans for the Summer falling into place, one of our major promotions of the year kicks off on Sunday which is our April Fool’s 50% Sale (and no it’s not a joke) so I’m sure the hotels will be well prepared for a busy few days of enquiries. One of the engagements I’m most looking forward to this week and have been for quite a while is the visit of Uachtarán na hÉireann Michael D Higgins to the Carlton Shearwater Hotel in Ballinasloe. President Higgins will be there to speak a ...

Win a Wedding in a Carlton Hotel!

Posted: 2012-03-22 17:00:00 As much as many of you would have no doubt loved the weekend to have extended into Tuesday, many of our staff were just beginning their few days off with the extended weekend being a very busy one across the hotels. The combination of St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday and Mother’s Day on Sunday ensured that all departments were busy from people drowning the shamrock to mum’s being treated in our various C-Spas.I myself had a quite weekend taking in my local parade which continues to grow every year and is a testament to the local community. One of the highlights of the Bank Holiday Monday was getting an opportunity to relax and watch a cinematic classic on TG4; “The War of the Buttons” made in Ireland in the early ‘90s, it stars one of our very own C ...

St. Patrick's Weekend

Posted: 2012-03-16 17:00:00 St. Patrick’s Day is the one day of the year that most Irish people, both home and abroad, look forward to. Not only do they look forward to the extra day off work but it’s a day that gives everyone a chance to celebrate their Irishness. My guess is there will be plenty of celebrating this weekend with St. Patrick’s Day falling on a Saturday giving us a three day weekend. If our hotels are anything to go by it looks like there are plenty of people taking advantage of the bank holiday and heading away for the weekend. Most of our hotels have entertainment on over the weekend so if you are looking for something to do make sure to head to a Carlton Hotel!Of course not only will we have our traditional celebrating to do but we will also hopefully be celebrating a vi ...

All About Rugby!

Posted: 2012-03-09 17:00:00 The talk in the sporting world this week has been all about Ireland's game against France last weekend. Following their victory over Italy, Ireland went into the game confident and fought well for the whole match. France put up a hard fight and it was definitely a game not to be missed. Despite a well played match by both sides neither were victorious and the game ended as a draw. It was a brilliant outcome for Ireland though as their performance in the Six Nations is definitely improving. This week Ireland face another tough challenge as they take on Scotland in the Aviva on Saturday. The loss of key personnel on the Irish team plus the fact the Scotland are predicted to hit their best form will no doubt put pressure on Declan Kidney. It'll be a tough fight but if Ireland play to ...
