GAA Sport Weekend!

Posted: 2011-08-26 16:00:00 I have returned to Dublin now and back to reality as the Rose of Tralee Festival is now over for this year. It’s been a busy week for the Carlton Team as we have hosted at lot of the events in our hotels. I would like to say a big thank you to Anthony Smiddy and his team in the Carlton Hotel Tralee for looking after us all over the past few days. The festival was a great success.I will definitely be watching Dublin’s journey to the All-Ireland Minor and Senior Football Championship on Sunday when the Minors take on Galway and the Seniors take-on Donegal. Our Director of Sales & Marketing Jean O’Connell a native from Kerry will be keeping a close eye on the match to see who will get through to the Final to play Kerry! Good Luck to Ireland also who play Englan ...

What a Fantastic Night!

Posted: 2011-08-24 16:00:00 2011 International Rose of Tralee was crowned last night, bringing another fantastic week of events to a close. I had to prepare myself for the difficult decision that was ahead of me! I spent the afternoon reviewing the many notes I took from the rose interviews. It was a great show with the remaining 14 Roses coming across very well and of course Dáithí once again almost stole the show! I really enjoyed Imelda May’s performance and it’s great to see a music act this year again. Making our decision was a difficult task as always considering the standard of Roses but a decision had to be made. I hope everyone thinks we’ve made a great choice and I look forward to working with Tara in the coming year. I hope everyone enjoyed the festivities on offer ...

First TV Night in Tralee

Posted: 2011-08-23 14:00:00 Yesterday was a bit hectic here in Tralee for myself and the other Rose of Tralee judges as we had quite a bit to do before the live interviews aired from the Dome last night. As with last year though we did get through it all and were ready to go in plenty of time. The Dome at the Carlton Hotel Tralee looked really well and was packed full of family and friends of Roses showing their support. The atmosphere in the place was amazing and must have helped the Roses relax as they were being interviewed. I’d like to take this opportunity to say congratulations to the Roses who were interviewed last night as they did really well and I look forward to seeing the others tomorrow night. This morning it was another early start for me as we had TV3’s Ireland AM broadcasting live ...

The Rose Ball

Posted: 2011-08-20 10:00:00 Yesterday was a busy day in Tralee for me as I had a lot to do before getting ready for the Rose Ball last night. The Ball took place in the Dome at the Carlton Hotel Tralee and the night was a great success. The Dome looked fantastic as did the many Roses and guests at the event. There were over 800 people at the Ball and between the atmoshpere and the entertainment I'm sure they all had a brilliant night.I tried to not make it too late a night though because I've another busy day in Tralee ahead of me today. Along with the other judges I got to meet the Roses and their Escorts last night although I did have the opportunity to meet some of them during their visits to Carlton Hotels throughout the Rose Tour. The first round of interviews begins today and then the Roses will take ...

The Roses meet the Escorts

Posted: 2011-08-19 16:30:00 There was great excitement in the Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel last night when the 32 Roses arrived, anxiously looking forward to meeting up with their escorts. The escorts couldn’t believe their fortune when they were eventually introduced to the girls before a Gala dinner at the hotel.  During the dinner the guests were entertained by the infamous Celia Holman Lee who put on a fantastic Rose Supermodel fashion show. After the show, the Roses could relax and unwind and get to know the 32 escorts who were going to be assigned as their chaperones over the coming days. The night ended with a charity auction for the very worthy Milford Hospice. I didn’t make it over to Limerick myself because I had to travel to Tralee yesterday and reviewed all the plans for the we ...

Roses in Galway

Posted: 2011-08-18 13:00:00 Last night the Roses attended a Night of Cabaret at the Carlton Shearwater Hotel in Galway and overall the night was a great success. There were over 450 guests at the event in aid of the Ballinasloe Town Hall Committee. A great night was had by all with fantastic live performances and a gourmet international buffet. Throughout the evening there were plenty of cocktails served by staff dressed in themed costumes. The roses performed their banana dance for the crowd plus our Facebook competition winner performed the rose of tralee for the lovely ladies. Well done to both the management and staff at the Carlton Shearwater Hotel, who along with the entertainment made the night the success that it was. This morning the Roses were treated to spa treatments at the Carlton Shearwater C ...

Roses in Blanchardstown

Posted: 2011-08-17 13:00:00 Last night’s Gala evening at the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown was a great success. The evening had joint celebrations as it marked the first official night of the Rose of Tralee Tour but also the Grand Opening of hotel, the newest edition to the Carlton Group. I must say the hotel looked very well and the night was a credit to the staff and management at the new hotel.I must congratulate Clare Kambamettu on her speech as she came across very well. She spoke to the Roses during her speech telling them to make the most of the next two weeks and she also told us a little about her year, including her trip to India. The evening continued on with a beautiful meal, with even a few sparklers appearing on our chocolates for dessert! We were entertained throughout the night by the D ...
