The Rose Tour Begins - Posted by Guest Blogger Eveanna Ryan

Posted: 2012-08-13 14:00:00 The 32 beautiful Roses arrived late last night and have spent their first night of three here at the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown. To make them feel at home they each recieved a box of Lily O Brien's chocolates in their rooms when they arrived! At the moment they are up and about looking excited and a bit nervous as their interviews take place today with the Judges.  If you call down to us here at the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown you might even spot newlywed Dáthí as he mixes and gets to know all the girls.....its a tough job but someone has to do it!!!!!  Tonight the girls head off in their custom tour bus to Newbridge Silverware but will be back in bed before the clock strikes 12! And if they are very lucky the Carlton Fairy might have left them another ...

Ireland's Golden Girl

Posted: 2012-08-10 17:00:00 The Olympics are now in full swing and this week has been one of the best so far for the Irish athletes. On Monday evening Katie Taylor secured a place in the semi-finals and guaranteed herself at least a bronze medal as she beat Great Britain’s Natasha Jones. Not content with the bronze she went on to beat Mavzuna Chorieva from Tajikistani on Wednesday to reach the lightweight Olympic final. And it was in this final against Russia’s Sofia Sofya Ochigava that Katie really showed why she is Ireland’s golden girl! The final took place in the ExCel Arena in London on Thursday afternoon with the Irish fans making up most of the 10,000 strong audience. Back in Ireland, there were thousands gathered in Katie’s hometown of Bray to cheer her on while the othe ...

Galway Racing Festival is Back!

Posted: 2012-08-03 17:00:00 Let me start by congratulating my adopted county Kildare on their victory over Sligo last Saturday evening. Kildare secured their place in the All Ireland Senior Football Quarter Finals with a 0-13 to 0-4 win against Sligo and will now go on to face Cork this Sunday. Cork are the strong favourites but there have been a few surprises in this year’s championship so Kildare could still beat the Rebels on Sunday. This week began with a trip to one of my favourite events of the year, the Galway Racing Festival. I was at the opening day as the Carlton Hotel Galway City were sponsoring the 5.45pm feature race which had a €70,000 prize for the winner. The evening got off to a great start, the weather was perfect and there was a great atmosphere amongst the crowd of 17,000 peop ...

Bedroom Gymnastics?

Posted: 2012-07-27 13:00:00 The big news this week is of course the Olympic Games in London and the opening ceremony tonight. There will be 80,000 spectators at the opening ceremony and an estimated 1 billion television viewers. I know I’ll be one of those 1 billion as there has been so much hype surrounding the event it’s promising to be memorable. I’m sure I won’t be the only one this side of the pond tuning in as we all route for Team Ireland, no doubt some of you have booked time off around the most popular events! Here at Carlton we always like to keep on top of what is going on and run promotions or campaigns around them. As I mentioned last week we’ve just launched our Rose of Tralee campaign and there was no way we could let this summer’s Games pass by without a pr ...

Is Tralee the new Lisdoonvarna?

Posted: 2012-07-20 17:00:00 This week at Carlton, Rose of Tralee fever has really kicked in! Our Sales & Marketing team have just launched this year’s Rose of Tralee campaign and I can’t believe it’s that time already. I know I probably say it ever year but it doesn’t feel like the last one was a year ago, time really does seem to be flying by. Our Sales & Marketing team have spent months preparing ideas and getting the campaign together as it is such a huge event for us.This year we are challenging Lisdoonvarna as we actually believe the Rose of Tralee Festival could be the biggest match making festival in Ireland! This is our fifth year sponsoring the festival and throughout the years we have seen and heard of so many relationships that have blossomed during the festival. W ...

The Wedding of the Year - by Guest Blogger Brigeen O'Sullivan

Posted: 2012-07-13 17:30:00 Well the day has finally arrived! The sun was shining on the wonderful couple Dáithí & Rita Ó’Sé today as they were married in Dingle.  We were delighted to welcome them and their guests to the Carlton Hotel Tralee this afternoon where the party is in full swing! After all the months of planning the hotel has been transformed into a wedding wonderland. We worked with Gotcha Covered and Diane and her team did an amazing job creating an elegant uptown New York theme throughout. The hotel is dazzling with designer draping, sparking lights and the most beautiful flower arrangements.  Dáithí & Rita arrived to much cheer and many of the locals were here to greet them. I hear that a coach of fans even travelled all way fro ...

Galway are Leinster Champions!

Posted: 2012-07-10 12:00:00 What a weekend to be from Galway! The whole city was buzzing with the events around the finale of the Volvo Ocean Race and the city did us proud. People from all over the world were in the city of the tribes for the weekend to celebrate the finale and it was a great success. The festivities surrounding the Volvo Ocean Race came to an end on Sunday but the celebrations were only beginning for the GAA fans!Galway took on Kilkenny in the Leinster Senior Hurling Final on Sunday and by all accounts the odds were against them. Not only are they the All-Ireland Champions but Kilkenny have also been crowned Leinster Champions for the last seven years in a row. Regardless of the odds and past results, it all comes down to how the teams preform on the day and Galway were definitely on top ...
