Welcome from Our Chief Executive, Michael Kearney
As Chief Executive of Carlton Hotel Group, I'd like to welcome you to the Carlton Hotel Group blog. The Carlton Hotel Group was established in 2004 and since then has developed as one of the premier Hotel Groups in Ireland. In the past 7 years Carlton has grown substantially from operating one hotel to having a presence in many locations throughout Ireland.
Through this blog it is my aim to give you an insight into what's going on in all of our hotels plus my opinions on current affairs, sports news, general activities and events. I will also occassionally invite some of my colleagues to write on the blog giving you more opinions and insights into what's going on at Carlton. If you have any questions or queries on any of the posts please leave a comment and I will respond at my earliest convenience. Enjoy reading.............

As I mentioned briefly in my post last week, we had the Carlton Apprentice Awards Night at the Carlton Hotel Kinsale last Thursday. For those of you that have been following my blog you’ll know we recently ran a competition to search for the new Carlton Apprentice, following the success of last year’s campaign. After a tough competition Louise Rennison from the Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel won the overall competition and became the new Carlton Apprentice. The awards night in Kinsale gave me the chance to reward all the Apprentices for their hard work and commitment throughout the task. Not only did I present Louise with her prizes, I also presented certificates to all apprentices as recognition of the work they put into the competition. Unfortunately some of them were ...

I’ve been out of the office more often than in it this week as I had a lot of meetings and appointments in other hotels and locations. I might get to see my desk at some stage next week but so far I’m enjoying being on the road again as its been a while! On Wednesday I was at the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown as we had a meeting to review our plans for the Rose of Tralee this year. It’s hard to think we’re planning for August already but I’d say it won’t be long about coming round! Before that though I had an important photo shoot to attend on Tuesday at the launch of this year’s Achill Half Marathon. Now in its seventh year the Achill Half Marathon is set around a stunning course on the west-coast island and is open to competitive runners, ...

It’s been another busy week at Carlton head office for us all as we make plans for the coming year. We’re looking forward to the opportunities and challenges ahead of us this year and with the work we’ve completed over the last few weeks we’ve certainly planned for every eventuality. Although we’ve been busy we’ve managed to take some time out to try our luck at becoming TV game show winners this evening! We at the Carlton group have dipped our toes into the crazy world of Entertainment and will be appearing on RTÉ Television's new series 'Who Knows Ireland Best?' tonight at 8:30pm. Sophia Weir, Director of Spa Operations, Declan Meagher, General Manager of the Carlton Dublin Airport Hotel, and myself will all take part in the new game sh ...

This week has been a very busy one for us here at Carlton head office as we plan our activity for the months ahead. There will definitely be a lot going on over the next few weeks so if you’re a fan of our promotional offers make sure to keep an eye on our website. We’re hoping people will choose to support the Irish economy and holiday at home this year instead of travelling abroad. To help with encourage you we will have plenty of offers on throughout the year so you won’t need to break the bank to holiday in Ireland. We will also be launching a big campaign in March which should encourage more visitors into Ireland but I’ll have more details on that nearer the time.It was a week of awards for the Carlton Group as two of our properties received different ...

Happy New Year to you all, hope you had a great Christmas and enjoyed the time off. I only just went back to work myself this week and I must admit I really enjoyed the holidays. It was great to get the chance to relax with family and friends and celebrate Christmas at home. It was all the better that we didn’t get a white Christmas this year because we could go visiting family and friends without worrying about being snowed in. It was back with a bang for us here at Carlton as we relaunched our January room sale on Wednesday following the success of last year’s sale. We offered 50% off our B&B rates for 48 hours only and there was a lot of interest on it. In the end the sale was a great success and it looks like there will be plenty of people “staycationing ...

The final of the Carlton Apprentice took place last week and the four finalists went head to head selling vouchers all week at shopping centres across the country. I called into the Pavilions, Liffey Valley and Whitewater Shopping Centres but unfortunately didn't make it down to Cork to visit the Carlton Millrace Apprentice, Clare, but I heard she did very well. I saw first hand just how busy three of the Apprentices were and it was great to see them in action selling Carlton vouchers. All four of the finalists did really well and I would like to congratulate all of them on their hard work and dedication to the task. But there can only be one winner and I'm delighted to announce that this year's Carlton Apprentice is Louise Rennison from the Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel. Louise ...

Following the success of last year’s competition we decided to run another search for a Carlton Apprentice this year. The first task in the competition took place last weekend in shopping centres across Ireland as the Apprentices went head to head selling Carlton gift vouchers. The task was a great success and I’d like to congratulate all the Apprentices for their hard work and effort over the weekend. Unfortunately though not everyone can win and there were only four places in the next round. These four places went to Brian Brennan from the Carlton Shearwater Hotel, Louise Rennison from the Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel, Lorraine Crowley from the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown and Clare Finn from the Carlton Millrace Hotel. The final round of the competition began this ...
