I was delighted that I got the chance to watch Ireland take on Italy in the Six Nations game on Saturday. It was definitely a match worth watching as Ireland beat Italy 42 – 10, which was great to see after their defeat against Wales. Hopefully they’ll be on form again this Sunday when they take on France, either way I’ll be cheering them on.
This week the National Aquatic Centre hosted the Carlton Long Course Nationals and the Irish Olympic trials with a lot of the teams staying with us at the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown. We were delighted to be the main sponsors of such a fantastic event and from what I’ve heard it has been going really well. This week we also heard the news that South Korea's Olympic swimming team will train in the National Aquatic Centre in March, while individual swimmers from Poland, Venezuela, Surinam and the Cayman Islands are scheduled to use the facility in July. I was delighted to find out the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown have confirmed that 30 swimmers and 7 coaches from South Korea will set up camp at the hotel from 11th – 20th March.
In other news this week there has been great excitement in Westport following the launch of a new festival for June. The Westport Festival of Music & Performing Arts will take place on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th of June in Westport House. It’s great to see an event of this size be hosted in the area and from what I’ve heard of the line-up it sounds like it will sell out fast. The Carlton Atlantic Coast Hotel are offering great rates on tickets for residents so if you’re heading to Westport for the festival make sure to book in!
