A Memorable Week!

Posted: 2012-08-24 10:30:00 What a week it has been! Each year the Rose of Tralee Festival seems to get bigger and more popular and also somehow manages to get better. It is a really busy week for me as not only am I a Rose of Tralee judge but being CEO of the Carlton Group means there are a few events I need to attend during the Rose Tour before my judging duties begin. I can’t complain though because I enjoy every minute of it but I know I’ll definitely be taking it easy this weekend to try get back to normal!

Another benefit of being a judge is the amazing people I get to meet every year, some old friends and some new acquaintances. This year I was delighted to meet Ronan O’Gara who I have met briefly before at other events and I was lucky enough to get my photo taken with him. As a rugby fan I was of course thrilled to get the chance to talk to such a great player but in this circumstance the focus was of course on the Rose of Tralee. It was lovely to get to know this year’s Roses during the week and I hope to get the chance to meet them again in the future.

Now that the Rose of Tralee is over for another year its back to reality for me and my focus will return to the coming months for the Carlton Hotel Group. Preparations are under way for all our Autumn and Winter promotions and I look forward to seeing what our marketing team have come up with. In other Carlton news this week I'd like to wish Chef Pat Lynn from the Carlton Hotel Galway City the best of luck in his retirement. Pat has been with the hotel for an amazing 43 years and I know he will be missed by the staff and management.

I plan to take it easy this weekend after such a hectic week………hope you all enjoy whatever you get up to!
