Journey to Tralee!

When I last updated the blog on Wednesday I was making the journey over to Westport to welcome the 32 Roses to the Carlton Atlantic Coast Hotel. On their way over to Westport the Roses made a quick stop at the Carlton Shearwater Hotel in Ballinasloe for lunch. They were treated to a very different lunch than what they’ve had so far on the tour as the hotel pulled out all the stops and served a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party complete with characters in full costume. From what I’ve seen of the images the hotel looked great and according to the hotel’s general manager, Martin Daly, all the hotel residents and children had a ball getting photographed with the Roses and the Mad Hatter.

After Ballinasloe it was onto Westport where it looked like the whole town came out to welcome the Roses. It was the first year the Rose Tour had travelled to the Mayo town so it was definitely something the locals didn’t want to miss! The Carlton Atlantic Coast Hotel hosted a Casino Night and Seafood Buffet that evening which I now Garrett McGiunness filled you in on in yesterday’s guest blog post. It was a great night and it was lovely to see such strong support from all the locals and visitors in Westport.

After a relaxing morning in the C Spa the Roses then left Westport and made their way to Limerick with a quick stop in Galway City. It was in Limerick that evening that the Roses met their escorts in the Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel. I didn’t make it to Limerick as I had to head down to Tralee to start my judging duties but I heard it was a great night and went on into the early hours!

I’m down at the Carlton Hotel Tralee at the moment and preparations are in full swing for the Rose Ball tonight. The Roses have just arrived along with their escorts and its here that they'll stay for the rest of the Festival. I’ve a bit of reading to do before I get ready for the festivities ahead but I’ll be back with an update on how things are going as soon as I get a chance!
