Ireland take on the All Blacks!

Posted: 2013-11-22 14:00:00 As is usual with my job, I spent a lot of time travelling this week, but I did get to spend a couple of days in Dublin catching up with my colleagues in head office. It’s important that I keep up to date with their plans for the coming months so I try to have a review meeting as often as I get the chance. Their focus at the moment is of course the Christmas gift voucher campaign but it’s great to see all the activity planned for early 2014. As I’ve mentioned before we’re always working a few months ahead in hotels and in particular in our sales and marketing department. Sure I even think I overheard someone mention Easter while I was in the office the other day!

While I was in the Carlton Dublin Airport I noticed that they are running a collection for families affected by the recent typhoon in the Philippines. Our charity for 2013 is Dogs Trust Ireland but the hotels do like to help other charities when they can throughout the year and it’s great to see them get behind this campaign. They are collecting non-perishable food items so if you have any spare please drop them into the hotel reception, even a couple of items could go a long way to help.

Of course being in Dublin this week I couldn’t help but notice the build up to this weekend’s Ireland and New Zealand match. I must admit I’m not a big rugby fan and would usually leave the sports blogs to my colleague Michael but even I couldn’t miss the hype surrounding this game. The All Blacks are here in Dublin waiting to take on Ireland at the Aviva on Sunday and although I wouldn’t always watch rugby, I’m going to make sure I get to watch some of this game. Ireland have never beaten New Zealand so it’d be great to see them do it on home turf this Sunday. They definitely aren’t the favourites to win but I’m sure the whole country will be tuning in to cheer them on!

I suppose I’ll leave it at that for now, hope you all have a great weekend!
