Ireland qualifies for Euro 2012

Posted: 2011-11-18 17:00:00 Last week I mentioned that I was attending the Eircom Spider Awards in the Convention Centre and although we didn’t win we had a great night. It was my first time at an event in the new Convention Centre and I was really impressed by it. We were shortlisted in the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality category and judging by our competition it looked like a very strong category. Unfortunately though we didn’t win the award and lost out to but we still had a great night and we were delighted to get the opportunity to attend.

Of course the big news this week was that Ireland have qualified for Euro 2012. After a four nil victory away last weekend, Estonia then travelled over here to play Ireland at home in the Aviva. I managed to make it to the match and I’m glad I did because it was definitely the place to be on Tuesday night. Stephen Ward scored the opener for Ireland but Estonia soon retaliated to even the score. Despite attempts, however, Estonia didn’t manage to score the other goals they needed to win and instead it was Ireland who got to celebrate qualifying for Euro 2012. After the disappointment of the World Cup qualifiers it was a long time coming but we finally got the chance to celebrate. Hopefully we’ll do well in the tournament but either way it’s just great to get there.

There’s a few rugby games on this weekend that I’m hoping I’ll get the chance to watch but other than that I’m not up to much. Hope you enjoy whatever you get up to!
