Galway Rose Selection Night

Posted: 2013-04-12 17:00:00 It has been quite a busy week for our hotels with plenty going on around the country which is great to see. It always tends to get much busier from Easter onwards – all we need now is for the weather to improve and we’re all set!

One of the big events over the weekend was the Galway Rose Selection Night at the Carlton Shearwater Hotel. The county selection nights are always great events and I know the hotels love getting the chance to host them. Since I became a Rose of Tralee judge I haven’t been able to attend the selection nights but the hotel’s sales manager, Michelle Ryan, was more than able to step into my shoes on the judging panel! She was joined on the panel by 2010 Rose of Tralee, Clare Kambamettu, 2012 Galway Rose, Anna de Paor and 2010 Escort Colm Power. They had a difficult job choosing the winner as the candidates were all great but there can only be one Galway Rose and they chose Kate Kennedy. Congratulations Kate and best of luck in the next round in Portlaoise!

I know I probably say it every year but I can’t believe we’re talking about the Rose of Tralee already, I just can’t believe how quickly the year has gone! Before we know it the regional finals will be over and we’ll be preparing for the festival itself and with the Gathering this year the festival will be bigger than ever. I always have a brilliant time in Tralee over the Rose of Tralee Festival but if you’ve never been you really should try to make the trip down this year – I promise you won’t regret it.

On that note I’ll leave you to it, I hope you all have a great weekend whatever you get up to!
