Galway Races Launch

Posted: 2011-07-08 17:00:00 The live broadcast of TV3’s Ireland AM from the Carlton Atlantic Coast Hotel on Thursday was a great success. Although there were a few technical difficulties, the morning overall went really well and I was delighted with how the hotel came across on the day. I’d like to thank the hotel’s general manager, Garrett McGuinness, and all his staff for the hard work they’ve put in getting the hotel ready for the show. Hopefully it will encourage some more ‘staycations’ in Westport this year!

Thankfully nothing cropped up on Thursday morning and I made it over to the Carlton Hotel Galway City for the official launch of the Galway Races 2011. There was a great attendance at the event with TV3 correspondent’s Jenny McCudden and Noel Cunningham, along with jockey Barry Gerraty and RTE Stylist Marietta Doran. It was also great to see millner Suzie Mahony at the event as I’m sure she’ll be in demand over the next few weeks especially considering this year’s Best Dressed Lady is set to scoop a prize worth over €12,000! The festival kicks off on Monday July 25th with Galway's Best Hotels day, with the feature race backed by the Carlton Hotel Galway City. The festival is one of Galway’s most popular events and always draws a big crowd, hopefully this year will be no exception!

There’s plenty of GAA on this weekend to keep my busy if the weather is bad! In particular the game tomorrow which will see my home county Galway take on Meath at 7pm. Hopefully I’ll be cheering them onto a victory but either way I wish them the best of luck.
