Easter in Westport - By Guest Blogger Garrett McGuinness
All has been busy in the Carlton Atlantic Coast and indeed beautiful Westport for the Easter Period. While temperatures have been below the norm, we have been fortunate to have blue skies and sun for most days, allowing guests to take advantage of the fantastic Green Way Cycle path to Achill or climb Croagh Patrick. Regular guests with us, Mr & Mrs Reddy, said that in the last 5 years returning to the hotel, it was the first year that they got to the summit of Croagh Patrick and were able to enjoy the amazing views on offer due to the fantastic clear skies…..long may it last!
With all of our Mini Explorers on holiday, there were plenty of activities taking place, with the annual on-site Easter egg hunt proving a big hit…….thankfully the Easter Bunny left no shortage of Easter Eggs! Our Fish Restaurant continues to prove a popular hit with both hotel guests and the local community. Good Friday was actually the restaurant's busiest day to date since opening its doors, so a big thanks to all of our guests. As our Head Chef’s mantra goes…”Freshest of Fish done simply!”
Our in-house complimentary guest bikes were in high demand over the Easter, whether it was cycling on the Green way or just a light spin into town, but should you be staying with us feel free to pre-book this facility. Westport has a packed schedule of events and festivals for the upcoming season, with the Westport Music Festival taking place for its second year in June in the wonderful setting of Westport House. The Carlton Atlantic Coast Hotel is only a minutes’ walk from the venue so be sure to check out our accommodation offers if you’re travelling to Westport for the festival.
Westport won the 'Best Town in Ireland to Live In' so make sure to visit to see what you’re missing out on! We’re looking forward to welcoming you to Wonderful Westport and the Carlton Atlantic Coast Hotel.
