Help Find a Dog a Home - By Guest Blogger Abigail Gilmartin

Posted: 2013-08-02 17:30:00 Hi everyone, my name is Abigail and I work in the Sales & Marketing department of the Carlton Hotel Group. Part of my role involves organising charity sponsorships and liaising directly with our chosen charity each year. As some of you may know already, Dogs Trust Ireland is our chosen charity for Carlton for 2013 and as a dog lover myself I really enjoy working with them. Back in June myself and some colleagues completed the Mini Marathon running (well more walking!!) for Dogs Trust. We all really enjoyed the experience and had a great day!

This year we decided to try use our sponsorship of the Rose of Tralee to help promote Dogs Trust and came up with a great idea! We partnered each of the 32 Roses with 32 dogs and created an app on Facebook so people can read about the dogs and apply to adopt them. To launch the app we had a photo shoot at the Carlton Blanchardstown with the 9 Irish Roses and 9 puppies. The photos we got on the day were adorable and I know more than one Rose tried to sneak out with a puppy! The app has proved to be a great success so far and we have already found homes for 12 of the dogs. I’m not surprised so many of them have been re-homed already I had a look through the list of dogs myself and was tempted to take a few of them home! I already have a little pooch at home though and one is enough for me at the moment but if you know anyone looking to adopt a dog please get them to check out our Facebook page!

I’d love to say I’m off now to enjoy a lovely evening in my garden but fat chance of that happening in this weather! What on earth has happened to the heat wave – I was just starting to get used to it??! They say its set to return at the end of August but I won’t be holding my breath anyway!

Hope you all have a great weekend despite the horrible weather!
