It's That Time of Year Again!

Posted: 2010-12-03 16:00:00 Every year the same thing happens……the 1st of December arrives and I can’t believe it’s almost Christmas. You would think by now I’d be used to the year rushing in but without a doubt Christmas always seems to come earlier every year!

The start of Christmas at the Carlton Group is marked by the launch of our gift voucher campaign. We sell vouchers all year round but the most popular time of year for them is December. Although our Christmas campaign generally begins in late October or early November the real push is from the 1st of December, it’s when we really go all out! This year we are running a billboard campaign across Dublin with a very original ad involving babies in Santa hats on a laptop. I must admit it wasn’t my idea but I do like the final product and I think it will definitely catch people’s eyes when they’re stuck in traffic.

This December we also have our search for the Carlton Apprentice. The competition begins with the voucher selling task on the 10th and 11th of December. Hopefully the candidates will do well on the task and all their friends and family will come out to support them. I’ll definitely try make my way around to some of the stores to see how their getting on and show my support. Although it’s the first year we’ve done this, the reaction to it has been so positive we may look into making this a regular fixture.

I know this week has been tough for a lot of people, with the snow meaning some of you have been housebound all week. The driving conditions are definitely tough but on the plus side there’s something so Christmassy about sitting in front of the fire with a hot drink looking out at this weather!

For those of you that must travel over the weekend be careful on the roads and make sure to drive slow and safe and enjoy your weekend.
