Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel's Birthday

Posted: 2011-05-06 14:00:00 I was delighted that Brian O’Driscoll’s decision not to attend the Royal Wedding paid off because his second half try played a crucial role in Leinster’s victory last Saturday. The atmosphere in the Aviva was amazing as Leinster went on to beat Toulouse and will make it to the final of the Heineken Cup in Cardiff. I’d also like to offer my commiserations to Munster as I must admit I was hoping it would be an All-Ireland Heineken Cup final but sure there’s always next year!

Although they won’t be playing in the Heineken Cup, Munster are top of the Magners League and will be taking on Connacht tonight in Thomond Park. Connacht’s last game of the season is fast approaching and I know their fans from the Carlton Hotel Galway City will be taking this opportunity to cheer them on as they take on their rivals Munster! Also this season Connacht Rugby are celebrating their 125th year and the occasion will be marked at the annual awards dinner on Saturday 7th May in Galway. The Carlton Hotel Galway City as proud hospitality sponsors will sponsor an award at the event.

The big event in the Carlton Group this week was the celebration of the Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel’s 20th birthday last night. I called over to the hotel myself in the afternoon for a photoshoot with Bobby Kerr from Dragon’s Den. We got some photos taken with the Independent newspaper from 20 years ago and I must admit it was a really interesting read as it definitely took me back a few years! After the photoshoot I got ready to attend the dinner which was a great success with over 200 people in attendance. Following the dinner Bobby Kerry gave a speech which was both interesting and funny, something I always try deliver in my speeches! The entertainment after that went on into the small hours so I wasn’t up too early this morning. All in all it was a great night and I look forward to celebrating the hotel’s 40th birthday!

I’ll be heading back home myself this evening to relax for the weekend, hope you all enjoy whatever you get up to!
