The Carlton Group Abroad!

Posted: 2010-11-25 16:00:00 This week we had two representatives from the Carlton Hotel Group at the BBC Good Food Show at the NEC in Birmingham. Thys Vogels, general manager of the Carlton Hotel Tralee, was their representing Failte Ireland and George Hook, sales manager of the Carlton Hotel Kinsale, was representing Kinsale Tourism. It was a very busy event with 15,000 visitors passing through on the opening day alone with a further 95,000 expected. They both took part in a Masterchef challenge with George really getting into it by donning a chefs hat for the task!

As the rest of us are enjoying our festive weather, our Director of Sales and Marketing has been faced with the unfortunate task of donning the suncream each day as she is doing work for Tourism Ireland in Australia and New Zealand. As her journey over there comes to an end, it’s great to see that we’re already receiving some enquiries from the southern hemisphere.

This week has also been a busy one for the whole team here with big preparations in store for our Christmas Gift Voucher campaign, which will be kicking off next week. All of our Apprentice candidates have been busy drumming up local support, and the group Facebook campaign kicked off with all the bios and photos loaded. I’ve already been informed that we’ve had a large number of votes in our poll for who will be the Carlton Apprentice, so hopefully the buzz continues.

I would also like to congratulate the Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel who won a Green Hospitality Award for "Most improved In Water Management" in the Hospitality Sector. The hotel’s green team were delighted to get this award and it was definitely well deserved with all the ard work they’ve been doing.
