Autumn in Westport - By Guest Blogger Anne Collins

Posted: 2013-09-27 17:00:00 I love Autumn in Westport and in particular here at the Carlton Atlantic Coast Hotel. With 14 years now under our belts, (and believe me my own belt is tighter than it used to be!!) we have made many many friends, and as I looked around our lobby this morning I remarked at the number of people relaxing, reading the newspaper, chatting to us across the reception desk, laughing, and talking amongst themselves, all of them return guests and now our very good friends. Its mornings like this, you remember why we do what we do and what makes it all worthwhile.

And with that in mind we launched our first “Golden Escapes” brochure, incorporating everything from a relaxing two night break to a week of planned activities and entertainment! We are excited about the introduction of our painting escape in October, our foodie weekend in November and our Ayurvedic weekend in March all about detoxing and weight loss (which I should probably attend to get my waist back!!).

This week saw the launch of our new menu in the Blue Wave rooftop restaurant, which has an amazing view of Croagh Patrick and a great sunset on Saturday night! I went to sample the Fillet of Irish Beef with a Chestnut Mushroom Pate, Grilled Cherry Tomatoes, Potato Rosti & a Garlic Crème. The beef was divine and so tender……I didn’t have anything else (please see paragraph one and two referring to my waist!!).

So to those of you who have become our friends during this time, thank you, and to those of you we have yet to meet, we look forward to building the same friendship with you also and perhaps seeing you on some of our great breaks.

See you soon in Westport,
Anne
