Apprentice Week 13 - The Final!

The final of the Apprentice aired last night on TV3 and it certainly didn’t disappoint, with both contestants proving they deserved their place in the final. Niamh and Michelle were set a marketing task by Bill where they had to host an event for three clients using experiential marketing. Neither of them were too familiar with experiential marketing but Bill brought back some of the past candidates to help them with the task. Once both finalists had chosen their team they set off to visit their three clients for the event.

The members of both teams worked really well together because for once they weren’t competing for the same prize. Niamh managed Elev8 and all members of the team worked hard to help her chances of winning the task and Fusion also worked together to help Michelle’s event be a success. This was definitely evident in the final product as both events ran more smoothly than any other event the candidates have pulled together on previous episodes. However, two of Niamh’s clients weren’t very happy with their location at the event although all of Michelle’s clients were happy.

Back in the boardroom Bill grilled both teams as usual although for once everyone had only positive things to say about their project managers. Once he had finished interviewing both teams he asked the other candidates to leave and was just left with his two finalists, Michelle and Niamh. At this stage either one of them could have been hired as they had both been strong throughout the competition, even Bill wasn’t sure which one to choose. He himself admitted that this was the hardest decision he had made in all the shows and that they were two of the strongest candidates he had ever had.

After consulting with Jackie and Brian he made his decision and chose Michelle as his new apprentice. As an added bonus he gave both Niamh and Michelle a new Renault to drive for a year, although it looked like he was actually going to hire Niamh aswell for a minute! I can’t say for definite whether Bill made the right decision or not as I haven’t spent as much time with the candidates as he had, but Michelle definitely came across well in the show and was one of the favourites to win from very early on.

I have no doubt that Niamh will do well in whatever career she chooses and I wish Michelle the best of luck in her new role as Bill Cullen’s apprentice.
