Achill Half Marathon Launch

I’ve been out of the office more often than in it this week as I had a lot of meetings and appointments in other hotels and locations. I might get to see my desk at some stage next week but so far I’m enjoying being on the road again as its been a while! On Wednesday I was at the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown as we had a meeting to review our plans for the Rose of Tralee this year. It’s hard to think we’re planning for August already but I’d say it won’t be long about coming round!

Before that though I had an important photo shoot to attend on Tuesday at the launch of this year’s Achill Half Marathon. Now in its seventh year the Achill Half Marathon is set around a stunning course on the west-coast island and is open to competitive runners, joggers and walkers who are welcomed by a friendly, enthusiastic group of nearly 300 volunteers. The Carlton Group are one of the sponsors of the event which explains why I was there and I was delighted to be able to come out and support the event. It was also great to get the opportunity to meet An Taoiseach Enda Kenny who was there to announce that Elvery Sports are the new main sponsors of the event and it will now be called Elvery Sports Achill Half Marathon.

We had another award for one of our hotels this week with McLaughlin’s Restaurant at the Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel who were the recipients of an award as it secured its place among Ireland’s 1 AA Rosette restaurants. I’d like to take this chance to say congratulations to all involved on their well deserved award.

Tonight I’m making a trip down to the Carlton Hotel Kinsale to attend the awards night for the Carlton Apprentices. I’ll be sure to fill you in on it next week, hope you all enjoy your weekend!
