Tralee Film Festival

Posted: 2010-11-05 17:00:00 I've had the pleasure of visiting two of the hotels this week, Carlton Tralee and Carlton Castletroy to overview some of the soft refurbishing that have been happening in the properties.

Tralee is buzzing with the Kerry Film Festival, this year Siamsa Tire becomes the hub and home of the festival, running from 30th Oct to 6th November - a festival which brings films and filmmakers to the world's most beautiful location. The main feature of the Kerry Film Festival is a short film competition which focuses on young filmmakers seeking exposure for their work.  Past adjudicators have included Jeremy Irons, Liam Neeson and Mike Leigh.  2008 saw the launch of the Maureen O'Hara award.  The award acknowledges women that have excelled in film and the Oscar winning actress, Juliette Binoche, will be in Tralee to pick up the award this year!

Carlton Galway City welcome the Samoan National Rugby Team who are on their European Tour, the last time a national side faced Connacht was South Africa in 2007, and Connacht were still in touching distance with only 15 mins to go only to leak to late tries. Where as I hope our Samoan guests enjoy their stay in Galway, as sponsors, I'd have to hope for a home win so that Connacht can maintain their good early season form and earn a major scalp!!!
